Management Skills Training
So, what do management skills include? Everything that is crucial to being able to get the work done effectively and efficiently. Management skills training focuses on the development of leadership skills, communication skills, planning skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills and team building skills.
JUNE 2010
Mark Prisk, the business and enterprise minister, has said that Business Link will be shut down. “The regional Business Links have spent too much time signposting and not enough time actually advising,” Mark Prisk told Real Business magazine. “We’re going to wind down the Regional Development Agencies, and as part of those, we’ll be winding down the regional Business Link contracts.” To replace the current Business Link service, Mark Prisk proposes a two-pronged approach, led by a state-funded online service and the private sector.
Leadership Skills in Management Skills Development
Good leadership involves knowing when to take charge and
when to ride on the backseat. A good leader can read into the
state of mind of each individual on a team and the morale of
the team as a whole. Leadership skills can help you take a team
smoothly through significant changes as well as inspire everyone
to deliver their best.
Communication Skills as part of Management Skills Training
Effective communication can save an organisation a lot of
time and money. Good communication begins with knowledge of
the dynamics at play in various situations. The absence of effective
communication skills can cause misunderstandings and can reduce
the efficiency of a team.
Planning Skills in Management Skills Development
Planning is essential, since it gives the team a perspective
into the goals to be achieved and the ways to achieve them.
It enables the team to complete projects on time and use resources
efficiently.
Performance management allows one to know immediately when there
is a delay or when resources are being wasted and corrective
actions can be implemented without delay.
Decision Making Skills as part of Management Skills Training
Decision-making is an essential part of management skills
development. As a competent manger, one must be able to make
timely and well-informed decisions. It is crucial to be able
to weigh the pros and cons of the consequences of the each decision
that can be taken and to be able to take the best course of
action.
Problem Solving Skills in Management Skills Development
There are various problem-solving techniques that you can
use to simplify complex situations. This enables a manager to
tackle problems and prevent the team from being overwhelmed
by any problem.
Team Building Skills in Management Skills Training
It is essential that a team work in unison in order to achieve success. A competent manager should be able to ensure that frictions within the team are minimised and the team works hand-in-hand towards common goals. Human resources software can help with this.
