Institute of Management Consultants (IMC)

The Institute of Management Consultancy (IMC) is the professional body for management consultants and is part of the Chartered Management Institute. The main targets of the Institute are to establish, maintain and improve standards of competence and professionalism within the management consultancy sector.

The profession in general is not regulated, the IMC makes efforts to change this fact through it's membership. The Institute has a professional code of conduct which members follow and the members are able to be assessed to become Certified Management Consultants. This qualification is the sole award for competence recognised in the UK. It is also valid internationally within the 40 countries which belong to the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI).
