Every business needs a strategy - a roadmap for success defining each step of the route so that you know exactly where your business is going and how you will get there. Defining business strategy should not be about producing lengthy documents that come outdated and ignored. Developing an effective business strategy is about involving the right people in the decision making process and those people producing a working plan that adapts and grows with the business.
The seminar will teach you to apply traditional tools such as SWOT and SMART and also the highly effective strategic planning tool - MOST - to your business so that you can come away with a practical framework for developing your own business strategy so you can hit the ground running when you get back to the office.
The key is for this whole process to hang together from top to bottom and also in reverse. From the top, clarifying the mission drives the objectives, which creates strategic options, which forces tactical actions to be taken. From the bottom, every action at tactical level should help to make the strategies work, all strategies should help to achieve the objectives, and all the objectives should take the business towards the mission.

Speaker
JOHN COURTNEY A.I.M.C., M.A.B.S., MInstD is Chairman of Strategy Consulting Limited. John has been a Company Director for over 25 years, including many years as Chairman or Managing Director in his own businesses which have ranged from sporting goods to agricultural chemicals. He has been a Non Executive Director for several SME's.
John has trained at The Academy of Business Strategy, and is an associate of the Institute of Management Consultancy, and a member of the Institute of Directors. He is also a visiting lecturer on the MBA course at Cranfield University School of Management and is also a Judge in The National Business Awards sponsored by Orange.
John has run training seminars at board level on corporate strategy and made presentations to both large and small groups on business strategies. He brings a wealth of experience, particularly in corporate strategy, business planning, internet strategy, marketing strategy and new product development.
